NLISIS RELAUNCHES COMPREHENSIVE RANGE OF COLUMN CONNECTORS
2010-3-2
- ORLANDO, 2 MARCH 2010 – At PittCon today NLISIS Chromatography relaunched a range of column connectors, enabling even the most complex GC analyses. The newly engineered design meets all the same performance requirement as its predecessor but less fragile, making handling a less delicate job. With the new multi connectors, NLISIS offers another breakthrough solution in GC-setups, making it much easier to establish swift and solid column connections of more than two capillary columns.
Until now, the Meltfit Solo tubes could establish one-to-one column connections, offering an attractive alternative for the press-fit and metal connectors. The new Meltfit connector is based on the same user friendly melting technology, but allow for much more complex connections. Similar to the existing Meltfit connector, the new glass connector is absolutely leak tight, has no dead volume, no adsorption, no band broadening and no thermal degradation. With this connector, analysts can reduce a lot of the complexity and risks of sophisticated GC-setups. This is of great significance for the petrochemical industry as well as research institutes throughout the world.
- Meltfit Split Tube, a Y-connector
This type of connector can be used in two modes: one inlet – two outlets [1-to-2] or two inlets – one outlet [2 –to-1]. The Split Tube with one inlet – two outlets are applied to divide the sample flow coming from the injector over two columns or to split the effluent of the column to two detectors or to two additional columns. The Split Tub for two inlets to one outlet has multiple application options, such as:
1. Connecting two injectors to one column for easy changing between two inlet systems.
2. Back-flushing: reversing the column flow to elute heavy compounds back into the injector.
- Temporarily reverse the flow in the inlet section to avoid solvent vapour from entering the column.
- Adjusting the mid-point pressure between two coupled columns to adjust residence times in the two columns in order to tune selectivity.
A Meltfit Cross Tube for x connections and a Meltfit Switch tube for deans switching will follow later.
